Working with Clinton as my mentor has been a truly life-changing experience. His calm, approachable style paired with clear foresight has reshaped the way I lead. Clinton listens with real care, connects even small wins back to the bigger business picture, and helps me see the dots I couldn’t join myself. On behalf of the Joint Centre for Disaster Research (JCDR) Teaching Team, we extend our sincere appreciation to Clinton Naude CEM for accepting our kind invitation and delivering an outstanding guest lecture to our Master of Emergency Management Advanced Leadership students.
Drawing on nearly four decades of experience in public safety and emergency management—spanning policing, maritime incidents, natural hazards, and health emergencies—Clinton shared deep insights into the realities of leading through crises. His strategic perspective, authenticity, and wealth of experience provided our students with a unique understanding of leadership, decision-making, and resilience in complex emergency environments.
Students thoroughly enjoyed the session, actively engaging in discussion and linking Clinton’s reflections to their own professional experiences. His ability to connect practical lessons with academic concepts inspired critical thinking and enriched their learning experience.
We are truly grateful to Clinton for generously sharing his time, knowledge, and guidance, and for contributing so meaningfully to the professional growth of our students.
The JCDR Teaching Team looks forward to future collaborations with Clinton to continue enhancing the leadership development and real-world readiness of our Emergency Management graduates.
With sincere appreciation

Testimonial : Clinton Naude CEM – Strategic Blue Consulting
We want to express our appreciation for the excellent design and facilitation of our recent exercise. The session, which brought our Enterprise and Geospatial response teams together was well thought out, engaging, and aligned to the needs of our teams.
The exercise created a safe and constructive environment for our teams to practice decision-making under pressure, test our processes, and explore how we work together during an incident. Your facilitation style and depth of real world experience struck the right balance; professional yet approachable, which encouraged open discussion and active participation.
One of the standout aspects was the use of mentors during the day to help prompt and guide our conversation. As ‘EXCON’, you kept the teams focused while allowing space for diverse perspectives and ideas to emerge. What also helped to make the exercise great was the realistic scenario and good cadence of injects. Your approach helped us identify practical improvements and reinforced the importance of collaboration in a crisis.
The hot and cold debrief sessions were another highlight. The Strategic Blue team captured key observations and lessons clearly and translated them into actionable recommendations that will strengthen our resilience and response capability.
It was evident that a great deal of expertise and effort went into the design and delivery, and we are grateful for the energy and professionalism you brought to the day. Thank you for helping us take an important step forward in building a more resilient organisation.
